Our Kantha Throws are handmade by women artisans in Bangladesh. Many women belonging to this cooperative, called Sacred Mark, have broken away from the sex trade and now make their living in a certified fair trade environment.
This cooperative is a World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) and their mission is to develop the social and economic capacity of former sex workers by offering funded training programs with the goal of cultivating respect, pride, and legitimacy within their society.
Sacred Mark’s recycled Sari line started with the classic Throw. Recycled saris are purchased locally from wholesale suppliers and producers develop the product designs. Each Sari Kantha Throw is two-sided and reversible with a different color and pattern on each side.
